Certificate: Resilience & Trauma-Informed Perspectives

 

The University of Iowa offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate certificate focusing on resilience and trauma-informed perspectives.  This certificate is ideal for any undergraduate in any college interested in understanding child health and resilience.  it is also open to non-students.

The certificate requires 18 semester hours with 2 required courses and 4 elective courses, with 15 electives to choose from.

Learning objectives:

  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) What is trauma and how does it impact the brain, behaviors and health?
  • Resiliency What it is essential to strengthen resiliency for survivors to thrive?
  • Prevention Strategies How can we decrease or eliminate trauma in society? How can we create trauma-informed organizations?
