Program Information and Frequently Asked Questions

As a member of the Hawkeye community, we all have a role in ensuring safety and success of all students. For this reason, all incoming graduate/professional students (including off campus or part-time students) are required to complete the online sexual misconduct prevention education course called Not Anymore. This program is just one part of a comprehensive strategy, which you can read more about here: 2018-2021 Anti-Violence Plan.

You will find many of your questions answered below, but feel free to reach out to us at ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu and we’re happy to help with any additional information. Please include your HawkID with any questions so we can be sure to get you the best information for your situation.

Spring 2021 Program Deadlines:

  • Part 1 - Available: Today -- Due: January 4 (Estimated completion time: 1 hour)
  • Part 2 - Available: February 8 -- Due: March 1 (Estimated completion time: 20 min)

Program Requirements:

  • Completion of both portions of the program is mandatory for all new graduate/professional students taking any courses at the University of Iowa, including part-time and off-campus students. This program is separate from any sexual harassment training you may be required to take for your specific graduate/professional program, or if you also participate in university staff training.
  • Failure to complete the program by the course deadline will result in a registration hold being placed on your Fall 2021 course registration.
  • Check your Hawkmail e-mail account (@uiowa.edu) frequently for instructions and updates. All program notification will be directed to your Hawkmail account, so it is your responsibility to be checking, whether or not you use a separate account as your primary address.
  • If you are no longer a student at the University of Iowa, please let us know so that we may remove you from the program. If you withdraw from the University after the 2nd week of class, you are still responsible for completing the program.
  • If you have any questions about the program, please e-mail: ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu and include your HawkID.

Accommodations:

If you have experienced unwanted sexual contact and you do not feel comfortable completing the program:

We care about your safety and well-being.  If you have experienced unwanted sexual contact and you do not feel comfortable completing the online program, an alternate option is available. You may speak virtually via Zoom or via phone with a confidential advocate from the Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP Website) to ensure that you receive information and resources in a supportive environment. You are not required to talk about your personal experience. The advocate will work with you to address ongoing safety and overall well-being issues, as well as discuss prevention measures we share widely with all students. Again, you will not be required to talk about your personal circumstance if you do not feel comfortable sharing.

Schedule an accommodation: Please send an email to rvap@uiowa.edu or call (319) 335-6001 and indicate that you are requesting a “University of Iowa Not Anymore alternative option”. You will receive a response within 2 business days. RVAP also operates a 24-Hour Support line at (319) 335-6000.

For online program specific questions, please email ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu. RVAP is unable to assist with questions about the online program.

Frequently Asked Questions

I completed the program this semester.  Why is there still a hold on my registration?

Following the program deadlines, holds are not removed automatically.  If the program deadlines for the semester have passed and you completed both parts of the program, you need to contact us at the email address ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu and include the following information in order to have the registration hold lifted:
1.Your HawkID (it is the code with letters, not numbers)
2. Certificates of completion for Part 1 and Part 2

I have already completed this program at the University of Iowa in a previous semester.  Do I have to do it again?

If you have already completed the Not Anymore program at the University of Iowa within recent years, you aren't required to redo the program, however if  your student status changed (ex: changes in degree program, deferring semesters, change in student classification, etc)  you can be categorized as a "new student" again and you will have to confirm within ICON that you have already completed the program. The instructions to confirm your previous  completion are nearly same as completing the program the first time (but a lot quicker!)

INSTRUCTIONS TO CONFIRM IN ICON THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THE PROGRAM IN A PREVIOUS SEMESTER:
1. Log into the course for the current semester on ICON. You should have received a link to the program for the current semester in your Hawkmail (@uiowa.edu) account.
2. On the left side of the screen, select the “Modules” tab.
Select “Part 1. Not Anymore Training” which will be located under the heading “Part 1. Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training- Not Anymore”
3. Scroll to the bottom. In order to run properly, the window needs to open in a new browser, so please select “Load Part 1. Not Anymore Training in a new window.”
4. When you complete the step above, you will be taken to a page that says you have already completed the program previously.  Completing Step 4 above is the trigger that allows your score from the previous semester to transfer to this current semester in ICON.
5. If you go to the section labeled “Grades” in the left side of the screen, you should see your score should now be showing as complete for Part 1.
6. Please note, you will need to complete the same steps when Part 2 opens in order to confirm your completion for that portion as well.  You will receive email notification when Part 2 is available.
***Please note - if the program deadline has already passed when you complete the steps above, you will need to notify us at ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu in order for the registration hold to be removed.  Once the program deadlines have passed, registration holds are not removed automatically.

I already completed a different sexual harassment program.  Do I still need to do this one?

It is not uncommon that an individual may hold multiple roles with the university. For example, someone whose primary role is as an employee at the university may also enroll in a class, or someone whose primary role is as a student may also be employed in some capacity though the university. The Not Anymore online program is required for all individuals who are beginning any graduate or professional coursework at the University of Iowa, regardless of any additional roles you may have. It is possible you may be required to take separate trainings specific to your other roles at the university, but those trainings would cover content that is different from what is addressed in this program.

Didn't I already complete this as an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa?

If you completed your undergraduate program at the University of Iowa, you would have completed a different program, which is specific to undergraduate students. This program is for anyone taking any post-graduate courses.

I have experienced unwanted sexual contact and do not feel comfortable completing the online program. Is there another option?

Yes. We care about your safety and well-beingIf you have experienced unwanted sexual contact and you do not feel comfortable completing the online program, please know that an alternate option is  available. You may speak virtually via Zoom or via phone with a  confidential advocate with RVAP (RVAP Website)  to ensure that you receive information and resources in a supportive  environment. You are not required to talk about your personal  experience. The advocate will work with you to address ongoing safety and overall well-being issues, as well as discuss prevention measures we  share widely with all students. Again, you will not be required to talk  about your personal circumstance if you do not feel comfortable  sharing.

To schedule:

To request this option, please send an email to rvap@uiowa.edu or  call 319.335.6001 and say that you are requesting a “University of Iowa  Not Anymore alternative option”. You will receive a response within 2  business days. All appointments will happen virtually online or via phone, you will not need to meet in person. RVAP also operates a 24-Hour Support line at 319.335.6000.

For online program specific questions, please email ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu. RVAP is unable to assist with questions about the online program.

I have another question that has not been answered or I'm hoping for some additional clarification. What should I do?

We are happy to help! Please contact us at ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu and include your HawkID (the one with letters, not numbers). Every person's situation can be different so providing your HawkID allows us to get the information that is correct for you. We promise to respond in 2 business days, but we have multiple people who oversee the account, so you are likely to get a response sooner.  If you're consulting other folks (classmates, advisor, department administration) you might not be getting the most current or accurate information. We're here and ready to answer any question you may have, so please come to us with questions.
